Doc Martens

Tread Loudly

Everyone knows Doc Martens is a bold, loud way to walk through the world. Asian Americans have been tied to the stereotype of being shy, timid, or even meek.

We want to break down these stereotypes by aligning the core energy of Docs with the Asian American community. Let’s tread loudly.

Doc Martens Community Space

Welcome to the Doc Martens community space, a DIY space specifically for Asian American community members. We are rolling these spaces out in major cities and inviting AAPI artists to have guest residencies. The space will be open for community members to use, host events, and create art.

Ride A Mile In Our Shoes

We will host a motorcycle ride against Asian hate beginning in San Francisco and ending in New York throughout the entire month of May. Riders are welcome to join for the entire event or stop off and jump on as they please. Everyone who participates has the option to get their motorcycle outfitted by Doc Martens.

#givethemtheboot

It takes work to build a safe space. Since cancel culture is largely ineffective, we wanted to focus on accountability and education. We are creating a separate Twitter account specifically for educating about AAPI issues. Our Twitter account will monitor common racist phrases and words on Twitter. Whenever we see these arise, we’ll use #givethemthebood and provide a short explanation of where this racist phrase originated.

Doc Martens House Shoes

As every Asian household knows: take your shoes off in the house. Doc Martens is rolling out a line of house shoes so you can walk boldly through your living room.
